Peach growers and tomato pickers from across central Alabama were kept busy Saturday during the 40th anniversary of Farmers Market Day.
Mixed in with the produce selling and musical entertainment was recognition of talented youngsters who have won competition to represent Alabama’s peach, watermelon and other agricultural interests.
A huge crowd turned out at the State Farmers Market on Federal Drive in Montgomery to honor Alabama farmers by purchasing their produce and other items ranging from goat cheese to flowers.
